The Prediction Book Tag

Hey everyone!

Tags are really fun to do and a wonderful way to include more than only one book in a single post. I was tagged by Siren @ Sweaters and Raindrops to do this one (thank you, Siren! I really wanted to do it 😉 )

(I’ve liked to improvise myself a seer just for five minutes, but I’m not sure how many of these predictions are going to be accurate 😂)

Next Read

Girls of Paper and Fire cover My Lady Jane cover

And here is my first miss, I guess 😂 I never stick to a proper schedule or order when it comes to new reads.

It could either be Girls of Paper and Fire or My Lady Jane, depending if I’m craving fantasy and action or historical fiction and humor. (Some idiotic part of me would like it to be Sorcery of Thorns, but I’ve got a Women’s History Month Readathon TBR list for March and I have to fill the bingo board with neat crosses.)

Next 5 Star Read

From what I’ve heard, Girls of Paper and Fire deserves 5 shining stars. But since I’ve already mentioned it in this post, Imma choose another one.

The Ten Thousand Doors of January (which I’ll read in 29327947 years) seems to be a safe prediction. The synopsis is catchy, the reviews and general verdict place it above 4 stars, and there is magic and worldbuilding involved, so yes, 5 stars.

I’m also incredibly attracted to books about big houses with loads of doors to open and secrets to discover. It’s a love derived from Narnia’s wardrobe (melancholy from my childhood), The Night Circus‘ labyrinth (recent wonder) and Ten Little Indians’ big house (mysteries from my early teen years).

Next 1 Star Read

Oh… Um… I usually don’t rate books 1 star? And I most often don’t pick them if I don’t think I’ll love them (or like them, at least). For the sake of this tag, I’ll choose a book I think I’ll rate lowly, even if there is no saying if it’ll be 1 or 2 stars.

Hot Dog GirlI decided to read it before I really looked for reviews or ratings. I think it’s one of those contemporary reads with a good plot idea, a pretty cover, and a solid ad campaign, but not much in the characters development department. (And, probably, not an otherworldly writing style or plot either.)

Contemporary isn’t a style I usually go for unless it is really well-written and surprising. I don’t care for the modern-day routine we all have and all know. I read books to escape that reality. So if the characters and story don’t resonate with me, then… Nope.

Next Love Interest (or Character that Seems Really Cool to You)

I don’t know. It’s hard for me to fall for a fictional character at the moment. #disgrace But I think that I’ll end up being attracted to Nate from One of Us is Lying because I love his counterpart in The Breakfast Club. (Brooding bad guys… It’s not good to have them in real life, so let me have them in fiction.)

I’ll discover the truth only when I’ll get to read the book… Probably when I’ll be a grandmother already.

Next Book You’ll Be Buying

I- *eyes empty walled* I might have already bought all the books I could buy before going to college 😂 I now get them from the library or friends.

BUT I want to buy Becoming Belle, because Nuala O’Connor is an amazing human being and I just love the cover, okay?

Next Book That Will Leave You with a Book Hangover (and Desperately Wanting a Reread or Next in Series)

I’m always saying that about every book, but I’ve wanted to read The Lunar Chronicles since ever, and I’m so glad I’ve fit Cinder in my March TBR list!! I’m sure I’ll want to binge the series because I’ve got this super soft spot for retellings. Also, royalty set in space? I’m not sure how to describe that but it gives me major Treasure Planet vibes, and it’s steampunk, and I’m definitely in love.

Aaaaand I’m tagging… (Please don’t do it if you don’t want to 😉 )

  1. I have to agree with you about Hot Dog Girl. That book promised such cute fluffy summer vibes and it just… *sigh* No, it wasn’t. It was super disappointing and angsty in the worst way. Haha I’m sad that I bought the physical copy before reading the reviews for it 🤣 Cinder (and the whole series actually) were definite hangover books. Hope you enjoy these reads!

    1. I’m definitely considering NOT reading Hot Dog Girl at all… I wanted to do it for the experience, but if you say it’s that much not like it looks like, then I’ll pass. (I’m sorry that you bought the physical copy too.)

I’m so excited to read Cinder!!

      1. *cough* well, I for one support that decision of yours to not read it 😂 though it does pain me to say it! The Lunar Chronicle is ah-may-zing! Really hope that ends up being a winner for you 😍

  2. I heard “Hot Dog Girl” wasn’t the best but good luck! Definitely want to see your opinions on “Girls of Paper and Fire”; it’s high on my TBR 🤩

I hope you enjoy the Lunar Chronicles, if you end up liking “Cinder”! I thought the last book was def the best of them!

    1. Thank you, Siren. To be honest, I’ll relegate Hot Dog Girl as far as possible in the back of my TBR given the amount of warnings you guys have given 😂

I’ll read Girls of Paper and Fire in the first days of March, and I’ll review ASAP. I’m sure it’s great and we’ll both enjoy it!

(I’m so, so, so excited to read the Lunar Chronicles. I’ll keep in mind that the last one is the best.)

  3. The Ten Thousand Doors of January was ABSOLUTELY a five star read for me, and easily one of my new favorite books. I hope it ends up being the same for you! 😀

I’m also planning on reading My Lady Jane for Women’s History Month Readathon! I’m really looking forward to it. And Cinder is SUCH a fun book – I think you’ll really enjoy it. Hope all of your predictions end up coming true!

    1. I’m so excited to read it, I think I’m going to burst xD

I hope you’ll enjoy My Lady Jane! I’ve started reading it (because when have I been known for sticking to a schedule) and it’s. so. good. It’s a bit ridiculous but in such a positive, fun way. Happy reading!

  4. Thank you so much for doing the tag!! I loved reading your answers. I’m not going to lie – you will probably be totally in a book hangover mode with Cinder. And desperate to binge read the rest of the series. They are amazing. And Girls Made of Paper and Fire really was a wonderful read, so I definitely think you might be handing out a five star to it. And I do remember Nate being a bit swoonworthy from when I read it a while back. Thank you again for doing the tag…and good luck to getting to some of these. 😉

  5. Ooh I’ve read a few of these books, including the Ten Thousand Doors of January, which I hope you will love! It wasn’t five stars for me, but it was pretty close, so I think your prediction is a good one!
The last book I read that left me with a hangover was Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer.
