Behind the Blogger Tag

Hey everyone, it’s about-me o’clock! That sounds extremely vapid, help.

So… I’ve been around since over a month, but I’ve never really introduced myself? My first post was a two-star review, please don’t assume this is who I am as a person. So thank you for the tag, Sandee!! (You guys should definitely check Sandee’s posts, she’s got a hilarious reviewing style. She’s overall amazing, actually.)

Alright, let’s jump in.

Why did you start blogging and why have you kept blogging?

Even if I’ve started Love for Words like… yesterday, it’s not my first attempt at blogging. I couldn’t count all of the previous ones on my fingers (even if I also used my toes). Some were on Tumblr, some on Blogspot, and others on WordPress, but the reason for having one has always been the same: I feel like having a place where I can share my thoughts hidden by the relative Internet privacy (okay lol, that has to be the biggest oxymoron I’ve come up with in my life).

I’m extremely introverted when it comes to creativity, and it bugs me to have to show stuff I do to people whose reaction I will see live. Every time I dropped a blog, it was because I felt like I had lost all of my privacy on it already. My real life family or friends ended up knowing about it, and even if they were super supportive, I still didn’t like to have familiar eyes read my opinions and rants.

But I’m perfectly fine with Internet friends seeing what I do 🙂 Welcome to my land of weirdness.

I think that I’ve finally found my niche in book blogging. I love books, creating bookmarks, browsing Goodreads, making literary lists, and referencing fictional characters. Even when I feel mad at life (mostly when I feel mad at life), I have the strength and passion to read.

If this were an essay, I’d probably get an D for off topic answer.

What is your favorite type of blog post to write?

It’s a little early right now for me to tell, but I’ve enjoyed making Thoughts posts so far, and I’ve got several more waiting in my drafts. I also really like doing the Quick Intros (they’re slowly evolving into what I want them to be).

What are your top 3 favorite posts?

I’m starting to realize that it’s really too soon for me to do this lol. Let’s choose among my (literally) 21 public posts…

Book Review: The Night Circus

My 5 Favorite M/M OTPs

Same Characters in Different Stories ft. Books and Movies

What are some of your favorite things to do to relax?

Let me be cliche here and say reading. I also like to go on walks (sometimes with my most recent musical obsession blaring in my headphones), spend a whole day handcrafting, cooking/baking paleo + gluten-free + dairy-free + sugar-free stuff don’t look at me this way, Lara Jean, and WRI-ting on my customized notebooks!!!

What are three of your favorite things?

Since I’ve already mentioned activities up there, Imma go with two objects (my Create, Write, Edit pens and the above-mentioned customized notebooks) and loving people 🙂

What are your proudest blogging moments?

What about leaving this for later, when I’ll have had a little more experience?

(By interim, it’s Marie Lu answering my tweet, reaching 100 followers, and getting this blog started with a decent aesthetic in the first place 🙂 + every time I get a comment I’m *floats on a cloud* )

What are your hobbies outside of blogging?

I’m finishing high school, planning to move to another continent for college, and working part time at three different jobs… What are hobbies?

Right now, I don’t even handcraft much (while I used to fill my every weekend with it about six months ago). I enjoyed playing around with Photoshop and I used to practice tennis when I had the time to. Reading is the only hobby I’ll never let go.

Describe your personality in three words.

Bubbly. Resourceful. Resilient.

What are your top 3 pet peeves?

People making assumptions and being stubborn about them. I remember being in sixth grade and having a discussion with a friend about the Italian way to say “I love you.” It basically went like this:

Her: “Te amo is Italian for ‘I love you’, right?”

Me: “No, it’s ‘ti amo’.”

Her: “But I saw an ad that said ‘te amo’.”

Me: “Okay, but it’s not Italian.”

Her: “But the people who made the ad must know.”

Well, but since I’m Italian, I would know, pal. I didn’t know it yet, so I couldn’t tell her, but ‘te amo’ is Spanish. She just assumed and was stubborn about it.

Girls shaming/humiliating/fighting each other. Sis, we should help each other, not throw insults at each other’s back for little to no reason (based on jealousy or envy, most of times). I’m that silly, but I wish we could all treat each other with respect. We already have enough to work against.

Judging. My whole family’s favorite activity is judging. Based on their assumptions, most of all. I HATE this with a passion. And they’re not even conscious of it/they deny it, which is 10 times more irritating. Maybe that’s why I’ve grown up feeling like I have to hide my thoughts from people I know irl. Thinking about it, that’s definitely why.

(Disclaimer: I LOVE my family with my entire heart. I place them above books in the list of bestest things ever. I just wish they could stop judging.)

What’s something your followers don’t know about you?

I think it’s pretty early for y’all to really know much about me, so I’m going to go with something simple: I lOve pizza, but I’m gluten-intolerant 😥 (If that isn’t the biggest joke there can be on an Italian…)

I’m tagging…

You! If you feel like introducing yourself or telling your followers more about yourself (and me! Please link me if you do this tag, I’d love to read your answers 🙂 )

Ta-daa! After 8 days of no posting, this is what Alice comes up with 🙂

I hope this post was actually funny-ish and helped you figure me out (a little). I’m planning on spicing things up once I get the hang of everything (by which I mean finishing high school and sorting out my job schedule), so stay tuned for hopefully good posts!

Happy reading!

    1. Beck, I’m so sad to hear that!! Your posts are hilarious and you’re like a bubble of energy, I’m sorry you have to face the judging. (Maybe we should start a secret club.)

  2. Loved your answers!! And I completely understand your need to keep your online presence separate from real life. I am exactly the same…my husband is not even allowed to look at what I’m doing…and I actually love and live with him. 🙂

  3. I relate as a fellow introvert! I don’t like feeling exposed, even though I desire a little recognition. It’s weird. I’m weird. We’re weird.

Your posts are always fun to read. You’re definitely one of my favorite bloggers! ❤️

  4. I LOVED reading this!! It was so funny! I’m the exact same way with my IRL friends and family, and my internet friends. For some reason, it feels less personally judgemental😂

  5. I loved reading your answers, Alice! I can very much relate to being introverted with my creativity – I get all nervous when I talk face-to-face with others about my blog lol. And yes, I don’t like judging either.
Congrats on the tag and your blog – I think it’s amazing 🙂

  6. Paha, I’m laughing because if I had to describe myself in three words, I’d use those words too! But I’m mostly dropping bubbly in there because I’ve been called that for all my life lol!

My family know I blog & I hear my sister has a LOT of twitter followers, so one day I’ll have to ask her for a shameless plug.
