Fairy-tale retelling | YA | Take a huge dose of 'Caraval' vibe, mix it with light 'The Night Circus' enchantment, sprinkle it with a good bit of 'Alice In Wonderland' story style, add a pinch of 'Mulan' dynamics, throw in a bucket of crucial life messages, adapt it all as a sequel-slash-retelling of 'Cinderella'... And you get Stepsister. As marvelous as that.
Sci-fi + fantasy | YA | General + book-by-book reviews | This was a wild ride. Both reading the series and writing the reviews.
Historical fiction (1920s) | YA | This is a cute book, but it didn't strike me as thaaat special. It was mostly fluff with good characters but not an otherworldly story. Kudos to the last two chapters, though.
Self-help/Nonfiction | VIVE LA DIFFERENCE is, as its subtitle claims, "a Frenchman's perspective on American women, love, respect and relationships."
Historical fiction | The Girls at the Kingfisher Club is one of those books that fill your head with beautiful setting. The description is alive, it saturates the room you're in with colors and emotions.
Fantasy | Morgenstern must have dipped her manuscript into a river of magic and it came out soaked in mystery and wonder.
